Tile Workshop

My mom signed us up for a workshop on choosing tile. Things I learned:

1) If you have well water, choose tile with a reddish or brown tint and go with brown grout.
2) Stone is better for resale (more timeless) than glass subway tile :(
3) Set your grout space at 1/8 of an inch. The less grout, the better.

I've never laid tile before, but we're (read: we = me, and Michael is maybe going along with it) thinking about doing a backsplash in the kitchen. It's just that all these HOUSE PROJECTS are so much work, and they're so SEEMINGLY PERMANENT. I can't make decisions, because what if I eff up our house? At least I finally made a paint decision for the living room, and so far I'm loving it. It's just that now the living room no longer matches the rest of the house in color or style. HOUSE PROJECTS. CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE THEY'RE SO SERIOUS.
