Dogs and the Lake
Dogs are not allowed at the lake. It hasn't always been that way -- my childhood dog used to come with us on our summer trips, and my cousin's dog spent many an afternoon leaping off the pier after a tennis ball. But once one or two dogs in the family became 3, or 4, or now 5, the lake became verboten for canines.
It's understandable. If one person brings their dog, everybody wants to, because we all love them. But you can't have 5 dogs in a little lake house.
Still, every once in awhile, if it's just Michael and me coming up to the lake, we can convince Grandma and Grandpa to let us bring Clyde.
